Volunteer with us

Volunteers are the reason we are able to do what we do. Our volunteers give their time and effort to make a real difference to other people's lives.

The majority of our volunteer opportunities don’t need any special skills or qualifications. All we ask is that you are kind, big-hearted and supportive of people, whatever their circumstances. The people we provide activities for are often elderly, lonely, feeling isolated, depressed or have perhaps lost their way in life following a bereavement, or something unexpected may have happened which has given them a knock back.

Many of our volunteers organise and attend activities, and are happy to chat and listen, or simply welcome people with a smile and offer tea and cakes. Sometimes just making jams, chutneys, cakes and other crafts that we can sell on our stalls at local events is enough for volunteers to give - and crucial to our fundraising efforts.

We do also however, need volunteers who may have a business/professional background who are now perhaps working part-time or have retired, who can give a few hours a week to help with administration, training, running or supporting fundraising events, governance and compliance, together with other back office systems and processes. All of these functions ensure the smooth running of the charity in a professional, reliable and compliant way, and in accordance with the rules of the Charity Commission who we are regulated by.

Whatever you choose to do, and however much time you have to give, you'll be making an incredible difference for people in the local community, at a time in their lives when they need help the most.
